Dubai to get new bus routes alongside Metro

Nearly 800 new buses, operating some 42 new routes will feed passengers to the new Dubai Metro stations when it opens on 9th September 2009. The new Feeder routes will service the communities around the new metro stations.
The longest walk for commuters from bus to Metro will be 500 metres.

Tokyo and Moscow top most expensive cities. London drops to 16th
It costs more to live in Tokyo than in any other city in the world according to ‘Mercers 2009 Worldwide Cost of Living survey’ released 7th July 2007.
At $3.25 (£2 / €2.31) for a subway trip. Add in a newspaper and coffee and the total is $11.70 (£7.20 / €8.33) which is more than in any other city in the report.
Tokyo is followed by another Japanese city: Osaka then Moscow in 3rd.
Perhaps the biggest surprise in this years rankings is London which has dropped to 16th (from 3rd last year). This is largely due to the the Pounds drop in value vs. the US Dollar.
Hong Kong keeps its place at 5th from last year.
Milan also drops one place to 11th (from 10th last year). As does Paris at 13th (from 12th last year.)
Dubai moves up to 20th (from 52nd last year).

The British Airways summer ‘World Sale’ is now on for flights as well as flight, hotel and car rental combinations.
Bookings must be made by 14th July 2009
Savings can be made with flights from London to Bangkok from £579 rtn; Hong Kong from £379 rtn; Tokyo from £449 rtn; Dubai from £299 rtn; Milan from £49 one-way; Paris from £49 one-way; Venice from £49 one-way and Moscow from £113 one-way.

Dubai metro fares announced.

In Dubai the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the fare structures for the Dubai Metro which is nearing completion. The Sytem is due to start operations on 9th September 2009.
A daily pass will offer unlimited trips Dh14 (£2.33 / $3.80) and is valid on public buses as well as the metro. The monthly passes will be from Dh100 (£16.68 / $27.20) to Dh270 (£45 / $73.50)
Single fares are to be priced from Dh1.80 (£0.30 / $0.49) to a maximum of Dh6.50 (£1.08 / $1.76)
